
Sharon Mandell was a consulting Principal at StrataFusion. She is a Silicon Valley tech veteran with over 25 years’ experience in technology development and strategic technology implementation. Sharon’s expertise spans software architecture and implementation, enterprise applications, internet technology/business models, and network and data center management. She also has a depth of experience managing engineering teams and IT organizations.
Experience
Sharon was the CIO of Harmonic, a technology infrastructure provider to companies in the video economy. At Harmonic she was responsible for the company’s IT footprint, while also improving the customer experience and enabling the company’s product migration to the cloud. Prior to Harmonic, Sharon was CTO of BlackArrow, a startup delivering multi-platform video advertising technology to media companies. There she was responsible for engineering, IT and technical operations, and professional services.
In her previous roles as Vice President of Technology of Knight Ridder, Inc. and CTO of Knight Ridder Digital, Sharon oversaw the strategic development and implementation of technology across the company’s operations. Before joining Knight Ridder, Sharon was Vice President of Technology for Tribune Publishing, and the first CTO of Tribune Interactive. Previously, Mandell was co-founder of Plannet Crafters Inc., a developer of award-winning software utilities for Microsoft Windows. Sharon has also been a consultant to a number of corporations, venture capital and private equity firms at various points in her career.
She is currently a Lecturer in Santa Clara University’s MSIS program.
Education
She holds a BA in Computer Science from Temple University. She also completed graduate course work in Computer Science at Georgia Institute of Technology and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. Sharon sits on the Board of Visitors for Temple University’s College of Liberal Arts.
