Elinor is a partner at StrataFusion and has over 25 years of executive experience in technology. She has significant background in complex regulated businesses undergoing major transformation. Her specialty areas are digital transformation, CIO/CTO, organization redesign and cultural transformation, and strategic IT cost restructures.

Experience

Ms. MacKinnon most recently worked with Esurance, which she joined in 2012 as the CIO/CTO, Managing Director and a member of the board. She was accountable for technology strategy, development and operations for www.esurance.com. She is a recognized leader in creating scale and capability in technology organizations, enabling rapid business change. Prior to Esurance, Elinor served in CIO positions at Blue Shield of California, and Chiron Corporation (now Novartis), and held a senior technology leadership role at Charles Schwab.

Ms. MacKinnon has been active in numerous CIO Advisory boards over the past 10 years, ranging from startups to the HP Enterprise Services Client Advisory Board. She served on the Fisher Program Advisory Board (UC Berkeley Haas School of Business) and the CTO Forum’s CIO Council Advisory Board. She currently sits on the CIO Council for Blumberg Capital Partners, an early stage VC focused on technology startups; the CIO Advisors Board for Panacast (Altia Systems Inc.), a fully immersive video technology company; and is a member of Golden Seeds LLC, an angel investing firm focused on women entrepreneurs. She is a member of the Athena Alliance, an organization founded to increase women representation on corporate boards.

Education

Elinor holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Management from the University of San Francisco. Recognized for her business leadership, Elinor is a recipient of the San Francisco Business Times’ 100 Most Influential Women Award.
